Provisional Driving Licence

1. Firstly you need to be 17 (or if you are disabled and in receipt of mobility allowance, 16)

​

2. Before you can have driving lessons you'll need your provisional licence. Click here to apply online at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) website or go to your post office and fill in form D1.

​

3. It will cost you £34 for your licence and you'll need a photo and one of the following ID:
- full valid current passport
- UK birth/adoption certificate
- certificate of registry of birth (provided your name is present on the certificate)
- identity card issued by a member state of the European Community/European Economic Area (EC/EEC)
- travel documents issued by the Home Office
- UK certificate of naturalisation
